A personal appeal from Ian Plimer on the carbon tax

Earlier today the carbon dioxide tax was passed by the Senate and became law.

But the fight is not over – it has just begun.

I’m asking you to make a donation today to the Institute of Public Affairs so the IPA can continue its research to expose the bad science and the disastrous consequences of the carbon dioxide tax.

We can’t rest until the carbon dioxide tax is abolished – and with your help it will be.

The government tells us the science is ‘settled’ because there’s ‘consensus’. Rubbish.

Science is about evidence and facts – not consensus. You don’t need me to tell you about all the other times in the history of science that ‘consensus’ was wrong. And then there’s Climategate.

Australians aren’t stupid. They know they haven’t been told the full story by the government. Australians want to find out more – which is why my book, Heaven and Earth, is a bestseller – despite being rejected by numerous publishers and despite being ignored by the ABC and the Fairfax press.

No one has been more effective than the IPA in standing up and publicly fighting the bad science and bad economics of the carbon dioxide tax.

For a long time the IPA was the only voice opposing the carbon dioxide consensus. Remember when big business, unions, Kevin Rudd and Malcolm Turnbull all supported an emissions trading scheme? Remember when the Canberra press gallery said that any political party that didn’t support an ETS was facing electoral oblivion? The IPA stood alone.

In 2008 the IPA helped launch Heaven and Earth. They helped me spread the real story of climate change – which is that the climate is always changing. Next month the IPA are helping launch my latest book, How To Get Expelled From School, around the country.

Last year the Sydney Morning Herald said John Roskam ‘has done more to fuel doubt about climate change than almost anyone in Australia’. I think that’s right. I’m asking you to give the IPA your support, so the IPA can continue their vital research.

We need the IPA to continue to conduct its influential and compelling climate change policy research.

Please consider making a generous financial contribution to the IPA. It’s easy to make your tax-deductible donation to support the research of the IPA right now:

  • You can donate using PayPal immediately – just by clicking on the side of this webpage

Regards,

Ian Plimer, Professor of Mining Geology, University of Adelaide

Author, Heaven and Earth

P.S. We can’t afford to leave it to the Greens to decide Australia’s future. That’s why we need the IPA.
